The things I come across in my daily life. I mainly post links to articles that I find interesting, but sometimes, you'll get something different. Random, weird, obscure, funny, informative, offbeat. (That's me!)
I hope you find something that interests you. ^_^
It's Summer! And that means that I watch a LOT of TV.
So far this summer, I have watched all of '3rd Rock from the Sun', 'ALF', 'That 70s Show', and 'The X-Files' (plus it's spinoffs, 'Millennium' and 'The Lone Gunmen'.), as well as catching up with 'Battlestar Galactica'.
Watch for random screencaps from interesting episodes all summer long!
It’s like an NES controller. ‘Press Start’. A ha ha…
It’s actually a pretty cool design for gamer girls.
“Rock stars may have to rein in their taste for loud music after a fan overheard U2 frontman Bono listening to tracks from the group’s forthcoming album and recorded them before posting the songs on the Internet.”
LOL. That’s too funny. I mean, you think he would have thought about that. It must have been really, really loud…
“Verlyn Adamson is an accountant who says he’s a big fan of math puzzles. He claims he developed a secret formula that has helped him make money in the lottery over the last 20 years, although he says his winnings have been small compared to this jackpot. He said his wife, who is his boss at work, had asked if she could play the same numbers he played.”
What are the chances of THAT?
“An 85-year-old woman boldly went for her gun and busted a would-be burglar inside her home, then forced him to call police while she kept him in her sights, police said. “I just walked right on past him to the bedroom and got my gun,” Leda Smith said.”
Heh, nice! Gotta love an old lady stopping a robber.
“In a crucial win for the free software movement, a federal appeals court has ruled that even software developers who give away the programming code for their works can sue for copyright infringement if someone misappropriates that material.”
WOO!!! Awesome.
“In the shadow of Olympic venues, Brian Williams has anchored NBC’s “Nightly News” this week in a city he calls Bay-jing. Yet Bob Costas, Meredith Vieira and many of NBC’s sports announcers seem to be working in a different, more exotic place: Bay-zhing. So which is it?
Williams is right, if you talk to experts in the Chinese language. He’s even recorded something about the pronunciation puzzle for NBC’s Web site, although it doesn’t seem to be required viewing for everyone at the network.”
“After Michael Townsend and Adriana Yoto found their skyline blighted by a colossal mall, they protested it in an unusual way — they moved in.”
What an interesting story! It’s a shame they got caught.
“For film directors, it’s all about control.
Realizing it will be their vision that appears on the bigscreen, and knowing they’ll be judged on whether the film is successful or not, helmers fight for final cut, casting choices and answer to no one — except, possibly, the visiting studio suit or producer — while ruling on the set.
With episodic television, however, directors walk a fine line between their own creative muse and the expectations of the showrunners.
“It can be anything from a collaborative experience to, shall we say, challenging,” says Allen Coulter, nominated for directing the pilot for FX’s “Damages.””
Hee. :D Great article.
“A man’s forgotten bifocals led to a $3 million lottery jackpot. Bobby Guffey usually plays the same combination of numbers representing the birthdays of his five children. But he left his glasses at home when he bought the winning ticket Aug. 6, accidentally entering the last number as 48 instead of 46.
The Hoosier Lotto ticket ended up being worth $3 million.”
Heh, so awesome.
“8-year-old guitar wiz has reason to play the blues”
When Tallan “T-Man” Latz was 5, he saw Joe Satriani playing guitar on TV. “I turned around to my dad and said, ‘That’s exactly what I want to do.’”
GREAT article. (Click the photo)
What a talented kid! It’s a shame that they are forcing him to stop playing clubs! (Yes, he’s playing clubs. At EIGHT YEARS OLD.)
